A note from Michael
In 2016, I volunteered as a teacher in the Kibera slums and I was placed at a school that was operating out of a corrugated iron hall with dirt floors and no walls dividing the various classes. I was shocked at the conditions, but amazed at the way the children turned up every day with beaming smiles, almost oblivious to their dire surroundings. That experience volunteering helped change my outlook on life so much that I promised the children and staff that I would find a way to build them a new school. A school they could call their own and be proud of.
The Blessed Hope Project was born.
About The Blessed Hope Project
In January 2019, we delivered on Michael’s promise and opened the new flagship Blessed Hope Primary School. Today, our school has over 300 children enrolled.
Our goal is to change the face of the Kibera slums through education. Our vision is that gaining an education will become the norm for the children of Kibera, rather than the exception. The construction of the new school was only the first step on our journey.
While our efforts to date are making an impact, there is still more work to do, and we need your help to get there!
